The brief was to have a Formula 1 race car "magically" assemble itself while technicians monitored and measured the technical performance of the vehicle. The entire car was built in 3D and then composited into a "live" environment.

Meticulous care was taken to create reality, and as part of the production process, our production team spent three days with the Sauber/Petronas engineers, recording the stripping down of an actual Formula 1 car & photographing textures intended to be applied to the 3D models.

The 3D was then rendered with multiple passes that allowed the compositing team greater flexibility so that they could match the texturing & lighting with the live environments.
