Jack 'n' Jill "Beautiful Potato"

Here at MFX, we were given the brief to produce three claymation spots for the Jack 'n Jill campaign. Each 15 seconds spot had 3 humorous scenarios telling the story of the "best potato" that would be picked to be made into chips.

This was our first attempt at producing full CG claymation ads and the most interesting part was analysing and deconstructing the claymation-style for CG execution. Getting the lighting and textures of the characters and set - as well as the jerky 'imperfections' of stop motion animation - looking as authentic as possible was indeed quite a challenge.

However for creative professionals, directors and traditional animators, this new digital method opens up doors and new possibilities to claymation, which would previously have been too costly and time-consuming.
